Owen County is home to Elk Creek Vineyards, Kentucky’s largest winery, currently producing eighteen varieties of wine. Elk Creek offers cooking classes, tours and wine tastings, a Bed and Breakfast and the Elk Creek Cafe. There is live entertainment at the vineyards every Friday and Saturday evening.
Parks & Recreation
Owen County is home to two golf courses. Perry Park Golf Resort and Fairway Golf Course. Each course offers group and individual play. Owen County is also home to the Elk Creek Hunt Club. The Elk Creek Hunt Club boasts unmatched world class sporting clay facilities. There are three separate courses, one over water, and offers 45 newly remodeled and paved sporting clay stations on 35 shooting fields. The courses are spread over a 2,500 acre hunting preserve which also supports the best of upland field and woodland hunting.
Schools, Health & Transportation
The Owen County School System includes K-12 schools. There are two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Owen County Health Center, New Horizons Medical Center and Specialty Clinic serve as Owen County’s Health care. Due to the location of Owen County, various top rated hospitals are all located within an hour of Owen County.
